‘Strange to watch knowing family and friends are there’

Some residents of the Delaware Valley are glued to TV screens, radios, and the Internet getting up-to-date news about the unfolding events in Egypt.

Dahlia Osman, who grew up in Cairo, now runs a coffee shop in Bella Vista.  The Philadelphian said she was surprised by Hosni Mubarak’s decision to step down from the presidency.

“It was very troubling in the beginning because, being away, we have no idea what’s going on. And then the demonstration in the very beginning on the 25th of January was very peaceful and then it became a chaos,” Osman said.  “It was very strange for me to watch all of this knowing that all my family and friends are there.”

Osman said she’s happy and she wants to see peace in Egypt.
