Wildwood destination making major improvements

Morey’s Piers in Wildwood New Jersey is spending $8 million to overhaul the summer attraction.

Jack Morey is one of the co-owners of Morey’s Piers and says among the improvements to the waterparks one pays homage to the giant slide that was dismantled recently.

“The Wipeout is sort of a glance back if you will at the original wipe out slide that was torn down a couple of years ago that was built in 1969, this is the waterslide its a six-lane racer where families go down head-first they literally race just about a foot away from each other side by side to the finish,” said Morey.

Morey says the Ghost Ship ride will be redone and the Sea Dragon replaced with a Wildwood themed version.

“It will look like a lifeguard boat, our mascot will be on the bow, and it should really bring back the past but in a new version,” he said.  “Same ride different cosmetic package.”

Plans for a two-pier roller coaster are still on hold, but Morey says that ride could be ready in 2014.
