STEVEN HILL has been advocating reform for American democracy for many years. In his new book, Europe’s Promise: Why the European Way Is the Best Hope for an Insecure Age, he brings the fruit of a decade’s worth of research and travel around Europe to the effort. Hill argues that the Old World has much to teach the New World when it comes to grappling with how modern society can ensure economic security, environmental sustainability and global stability. Steven Hill joins Marty on today’s Radio Times to discuss his new book, as well as recent European events like the Copenhagen climate summit and the financial crisis in Greece, and how they inform his vision of an improved American democracy.
