WHYY Resiliency Fund
In an era marked by noise, division, and declining trust, WHYY remains a source of clarity and connection. That is only possible with visionary partners who believe — as we do — that everyone deserves open access to this vital public service.
Your investment will touch every part of our work: journalism that informs decisions, educational programming that builds futures, and cultural content that brings joy and perspective. It will multiply the impact of every report, every broadcast, every student story. And it will ensure a resilient and sustainable future so that WHYY remains a strong, independent pillar of your community.
Why Now
On July 18th, 2025, Congress voted to rescind $1.1 Billion for public broadcasting. After 70 years of serving Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey, WHYY’s federal funding has been cut. This threatens not just WHYY’s ability to serve, but the very idea that trustworthy, independent media should exist.
Amidst the forces reshaping the national landscape of our civic and cultural institutions, WHYY remains one of the few places where people of all backgrounds can still come together to discover, question, and connect. But we cannot hold that line alone.
This is not business as usual. This is a test of values—of whether communities like ours will step up when shared infrastructure is stripped away.
WHYY is prepared to step up to the plate and do what we do best — deliver trusted journalism, deepen civic dialogue, support education and culture — all without the federal support that helped make it possible.
How we serve our community, by the numbers:
More than 1.5 million people rely on WHYY as their source for news and entertainment each week.
Our PBS KIDS programming is streamed 9 million times in our tristate region each month, providing children with non-commercial educational content that shapes growing minds.
We provide free training in journalism, video production, and other media skills to over 2,000 students in Philadelphia and Camden, developing the next generation of journalists.
We host an average of 70 civic dialogue, community engagement, and pop-up newsroom events every year, fostering community and engaging thousands of WHYY fans in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.
