Psychedelic Soul Revival Artist Johnny Showcase doesn’t like to talk about Andy Kauffman–the self-proclaimed song-and-dance man whose alter ego, Tony Clifton, is a portly Vegas-style lounge singer who only eats red meat.  Still, one can’t help but draw comparisons between the two characters.

Johnny Showcase is the brainchild of local theater artist David Sweeny.  It’s a made up persona, but Johnny Showcase and the Lefty Lucy Cabaret is a real show complete with an onstage spiritual adviser and otherwise mute backup singers.  NewsWorks Tonight Host Dave Heller sat down with Johnny Showcase–not David Sweeney–to get the real scoop…sort of.
