Rich Westcott names ‘Philadelphia’s Top 50 Baseball Players’

If you’re a Phillies fan, you no doubt have your favorite players — whether they date back to the Whiz Kids of the early 1950s, the hard-hitting batsmen of the late 70s and early 80s or the most recent crop of superstars.

Many of them are profiled in a new book “Philadelphia’s Top 50 Baseball Players.”

At least they’re the Top 50 as selected by author Rich Westcott, a longtime Philadelphia sports writer who’s penned more than 20 books, many on Philadelphia sports history.

I spoke with Westcott about the choices he made for the book, and some interesting personal anecdotes about his friendship with Robin Roberts.
