Philly Tech Week — actually nine days of events throughout the region — kicks off Friday. The opening event is Arcade @ Dilworth, where Philly-made technology — video games, music, apps, robots and more — will be on display.

This fifth year of Philly Tech Week marks a maturing of the technology community here. “The brain story we were all talking about 10 years ago has really faded,” says Christopher Wink, co-founder and editorial director of Technical.ly, the technology news organization that organizes Philly Tech Week. “Now we’re talking about providing opportunities for that second job, for advancement.”

Wink previewed Philly Tech Week with NewsWorks Tonight host Dave Heller, including a mayoral forum on technology issues, an access hackathon, and even a Buddhist meditation event, to help stressed coders chill out.

Technical.ly is a content NewsWorks content partner.
