We spend a lot of time studying ourselves and our behavior — how we buy things, how we motivate ourselves, how we concentrate. But does knowing how we act help us change the way we act?
NPR science correspondent and host of the podcast “Hidden Brain,” Shankar Vedantam, says it’s not that simple.
“Merely knowing how we operate and why we do the things we do is not sufficient to change the things we do,” Vedantam explains.
The extra step required for behavior change is the actual effort.
