No need to wait until March 17 to wear green ribbons and shamrocks. The Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade kicks off Sunday, March 13 at noon at 16th and JFK Boulevard. When it concludes, the heritage of the day will be celebrated in WHYY’s civic space.

Katherine Ball-Weir, who chairs the Delaware Valley branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, helped establish Sober Saint Patrick’s Day in Philadelphia. She sat down with Newsworks Tonight host Dave Heller to discuss traditional Irish music, dance, and culture. She even brought along her son, Alex Weir, to play a couple traditional tunes.
