Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site — Philadelphia, PA
Known for its grand architecture and strict discipline, Eastern State Penitentiary was the world’s first true ‘penitentiary,’ a prison designed to inspire penitence, or true regret. Its vaulted, sky-lit cells held approximately 80,000 men and women during its 142 years of operation, including bank robber “Slick Willie” Sutton and “Scarface” Al Capone. Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion — Philadelphia, PA
Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion is Philadelphia’s only authentically restored Victorian house museum and garden. Fireman’s Hall Museum — Philadelphia, PA

Wharton Esherick Museum — Paoli, PA
Wharton Esherick (1887-1970) was a sculptor who worked primarily in wood, readily extending his unique forms to furniture, furnishings, utensils, interiors and buildings, creating sculptural environments. A National Historic Landmark for Architecture, his hilltop studio/residence, with more than 200 of his works on exhibition, has been preserved much as it was when the artist lived and worked there, and is open to the public through guided tours for which reservations are required.
