HACKER and his co-author, Paul Pierson of UCAL Berkeley, have written a historical, political analysis of the United States economy beginning their timeline in the late 70s through the present downward economic spiral that began in 2008. They look at how big business won over labor in Washington and consider how deregulation and tax policies reconcile with a fair distribution of economic wealth among Americans. Their new book is “Winner Take-All Politics: How Washington Made the Rich Richer and Turned Its Back on the Middle Class.”
