Where are the jobs?

Listen

Hour 1

Times are tough for states and cities and increasing numbers of public sector workers across the country face potential staff cuts.  Earlier this week Camden laid off 168 police officers, 67 firefighters and 100 other workers.  In the private sector the numbers are a bit more promising, but challenges still remain for the unemployed. Where are the jobs – in which industries and in which parts of the country?   We’ll get a regional update from Rutgers professor and economist Joseph Seneca and then look at the national picture with Time Magazine writer Bill Saporito. We’ll start off hearing a report on the situation in Camden from WHYY reporter Liz Fiedler.
