The Philly GOP
Listen
Hour 1
It’s been almost six decades since Republicans ruled Philadelphia politics. In 1951, Democrat Joseph Clark was elected mayor ending almost 100 years of Republican dominance. Since then, the city has repeatedly voted Democratic candidates into office. This hour, we’ll look at the state of the Philly GOP. Why is it so hard to build Republican support in this city and why is it important to have a strong opposition party? First, Marty talks with Republican mayoral candidate KAREN BROWN about her vision for the city. Then we’ll hear from MICHAEL MEEHAN, general counsel to the Republican City Committee, and KEVIN KELLY, Founder of The Loyal Opposition, about ways to recharge the Republican Party.
