The science of spirituality

Why are some people more spiritual than others? Are we hard-wired to connect with God? Is there life after death? These are questions that have puzzled NPR’s religion correspondent, BARBARA BRADLEY HAGERTY, for years. She was so driven by these eternal questions she put herself into her reporting, experienced religious rituals and interviewed scientists and doctors. Hagerty participated in a peyote ceremony in Arizona, donned a God helmet in remote Canada, and meditated to the point of surliness – all along the way collecting personal stories of the blurred lines of science and spirituality. She put her research into a book called, “Fingerprints of God: In Search of the Science of Spirituality.” Listen to the mp3
