Listen 00:48:44

Guests: Leo Shane and Phillip Carter

Tragedy struck last Thursday at a military recruiting station in Chattanooga. Four Marines were killed, and a Navy sailor was wounded and eventually died from his injuries. Today on Radio Times, Marty checks in with LEO SHANE, the Congressional reporter for Military Times, and PHILLIP CARTER, senior fellow, counsel and director of the Military, Veterans, and Society Program at the Center for a New American Security, about the attack and the rekindled debate surrounding the arming of service members on military installations in the US. We’ll also speak with them about some of the latest military and Department of Defense news. They’ll discuss the scheduled Army troop reduction, the Pentagon’s plan to lift the ban on transgender soldiers, issues surrounding women in the military, an update on the VA, the new nominee for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and more.
