Ron Suskind’s “Life, Animated”

Listen

Guest: Ron Suskind

When Owen Suskind was 2 ½, he lost his words and seemed to disappear into himself. His parents, Ron Suskind and his wife Cornelia, learned that their son had a regressive form of autism. But over the years, Owen developed an obsession with Disney movies, memorizing dozens of them. It was through the animated characters and scenes in movies like “Aladdin”, “The Lion King”, “Peter Pan”, “The Fox and the Hound”, “Beauty and the Beast” and “Hercules”, that Owen relearned language, built social skills, and reconnected with his family. Pulitzer Prize-winning writer RON SUSKIND believes his son’s remarkable story may help other families and tells it in his book Life, Animated. Marty spoke with Suskind this June.
