Radio Times local music special

Guests: Hankus Netsky, King Britt, Tim Motzer, David Bromberg

For your Christmas Day, we’re going to bring you 3 interviews with musicians from the Delaware Valley. We’ll hear from Klezmer musician and historian, HANKUS NETSKY. He’ll tell us about the Philadelphia klezmer scene, from the early 20th century to the present, which he wrote about in his book, Klezmer: Music and Community in Twentieth-Century Jewish Philadelphia. We’ll also listen to Marty’s conversation with electronic musician, DJ, composer, and arranger KING BRITT. He joined me in the studio alongside his long-time collaborator TIM MOTZER to discuss their album of avant-garde electronic compositions.  And, we’ll hear from DAVID BROMBERG, who’s been a figure in the American folk and blues scene for 40 years. He’s collaborated with Willie Nelson, Jerry Garcia, Bob Dylan, and George Harrison among others, and joined Marty discuss his album The Blues, the Whole Blues, and Nothing But the Blues, which is a return to his roots as a blues player.
