On today’s edition of the show, we’ll hear some of Marty’s interviews with noted war historians. University of Pennsylvania professor and historian THOMAS CHILDERS joined Marty to discuss his book, Soldier of the War Returning, which questions some of American’s long-held beliefs about the “Greatest Generation,” and World War II veterans. We’ll also listen to a portion of Marty’s conversation with ANTHONY BEEVOR, who joined me to discuss his narrative history of World War II’s Battle of Berlin. And, we’ll hear from DIANA PRESTON, who joined us to discuss the German army’s attack on the Lusitania, which effectively brought the US into World War I.
