The graduation recital of pianist George Xiaoyuan Fu. George began studying piano at age five. He once said, “he couldn’t imagine waking up without playing the piano”. George entered Curtis in 2013 and studied with Jonathan Biss and Meng-Chieh Liu earning his diploma in piano performance in 2016.

The Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel, Op. 24 is an amazing work and massive piece. George said “you can hear the many different variations but they come from a very organize rigid form”. Done in the Baroque theme, it requires wide range of piano technique.

Schumann: Fantasie in C major, Op. 17

“Every time I play his music, I feel like I am just putting my soul out there”, said George about his favor composer Robert Schumann. This German composer wrote Fantasie in C major, Op. 17 in 1836 and is often described as one of his greatest works. In loose sonata form, its movements are: Durchaus phantastisch und leidenschaftlich vorzutragen; Mäßig: Durchaus energisch; and Langsam getragen: Durchweg leise zu halten.
