Expansion of Pennsylvania Medicaid

Guests: Judith Solomon and Nathan Benefield

Governor Corbett’s plans to privatize Medicaid are intended to bring healthcare to half a million uninsured Pennsylvanians.  Pennsylvania was one state that opted out of the government expansion of Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act.  But Governor Corbett has drawn criticism for the $13 monthly premiums he wants to charge low-income families, some earning as little as $5,745 a year.

Judith Solomon is Vice President for Health Policy at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, where she focuses on Medicaid and health reform.  Nathan Benefield is Director of Policy Analysis for the Commonwealth Foundation for Public Policy Alternative.
