    Hour 1

In this week’s news roundup, we take a look at three important national stories. First, a new study by the Congressional Budget Office on income inequality in America shows the incomes of the wealthiest 1 percent grew by 275 percent from 1979-2007 compared to middle income households, which only grew 40 percent, and low-income households, which only grew by 18 percent. We’ll talk about what’s behind the widening wealth gap with PAUL TAYLOR, executive vice president of the Pew Research Center. Then, we examine Texas Governor Rick Perry’s quick rise and fall in the field of GOP Presidential candidates with WAYNE SLATER, senior political writer for the Dallas Morning News. And finally, President Obama has been out west pushing his “We Can’t Wait” initiatives – student loan assistance, mortgage relief, and jobs for veterans. We get analysis on Obama and his newest proposals from MARGARET TALEV, White House correspondent for Bloomberg News .
