Last Thursday, after 11 years in space, NASA’s Messenger spacecraft made a scheduled crash onto the surface of Mercury, but not before capturing more than a quarter million images of the planet.

Information about that mission and more can be found on NASA’s rebuilt website – now oriented towards imagery and social media. It’s a reflection of the changing nature of NASA’s understanding of what audience it must appeal to and a reflection of it’s evolution to a space agency of the 21st century not the 20th.
