Legalizing Gay Marriage

Last week, the Iowa Supreme Court ruled to permit gay marriage. On Wednesday the Vermont legislature voted to do the same. While these two states have taken different routes to legalizing marriage between gays, there still is interest in a federal marriage amendment which would over-ride state law on the issue. We talk with two individuals who have been at the fore of the debate – one arguing against gay marriage and the other in favor of it. They have been working together to create a compromise approach (They’ve co-authored an op-ed in the February 22 issue of the New York Times). Our guests are DAVID BLAKENHORN of the Institute for American Values and writer JONATHAN RAUCH. Listen to the mp3
