Bush out, Destiny and Power: The American Odyssey of George Herbert Walker Bush by presidential historian JON MEACHAM. Meacham was given unprecedented access to Bush senior’s family and friends, his audio diaries, as well as those of Barbara Bush. The book traces 41st president’s life — his privileged childhood, his naval service, and his years as UN ambassador, head of the CIA, Vice-President, and President. The book also contains George H.W. Bush criticism of his son’s presidency, particularly his hawkish advisers Vice-President Dick Cheney and Secretary of State Donald Rumsfeld. Marty sits down to talk to Meacham about the former president, his life and his legacy.
