Hardanger fiddle player and composer DAN TRUEMAN

Our guest Princeton music professor DAN TRUEMAN considers a computer like an anvil and pulley as  tools that hide their purpose. The Princeton music professor, composer, fiddler, instrument maker and programmer comes in to discuss his recordings, compositions and PLork (Princeton Laptop Orchestra), which he co-founded. His new CD, with Brooklyn ensemble So Percussion, is “Neither Anvil nor Pulley.” Trueman plays his own electric creation of the Norwegian Hardanger “devilish” fiddle, which can be played with many tunings. Some of Trueman’s music mirrors text from one of his recordings, “I would like to know this song, its merging formlessness, a hint of perfection. Light, lightness.”
