Graduation recital of guitarist Jiyeon Kim. Jiyeon from Seoul entered Curtis in 2011 and studied with David Starobin and Jason Vieaux. Her program:

Mauro Giuliani: Rossiniana II, Op. 120
Jiyeon Kim, guitar
Jiyeon wanted the first half of her graduation recital to reflect the things she loves. Italian food, Italian opera, film and music. Giuliani was an Italian guitarist and composer. He was influence by Rossini. He composes six Rossiniana for solo guitar based on melodies from Rossini’s operas. Rossiniana II, Op. 120 is the second of six. The Rossiniana are considered examples of his most gifted works.

Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco: Guitar Quintet, Op. 143
Jiyeon Kim, guitar; Laura Park, violin; Alexandra Switala, violin; Erika Gray, viola; Tessa Seymour, cello
Jiyeon demonstrates her love for Italian film music with Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco: Guitar Quintet, Op. 143. Castelnuovo-Tedesco was an active film composer. It is believed that this guitar quintet was composed in less then a month. He describes it as “melodious and serene work, partly neo-classical and partly neo-romantic”.
