Guantanamo’s First 100 Days

The $80 billion President Obama requested this week for military operations includes money to close the Guantanamo Bay prison camp. The president has promised the controversial prison will be closed by January 2010 though his administration doesn’t have a plan for where the 240 or more detainees will go. Our guest, KAREN GREENBERG has written a book about the first 100 days of Guantanamo Bay and the career military officers who tried to fight the Pentagon leadership and their policies about the treatment of detainees. She says that there are many lessons to be learned from GITMO.
