On the heels of its much anticipated, and hotly debated, Initial Public Offering, the world has learned much about the value of the retail discounter Groupon. The innovative business model, which pulled in new customers by pushing discounts via emails, has come under increasing scrutiny, criticism and imitation, as rivals like Google, Amazon and LivingSocial have crowded the field. Joining us to help explain this sector’s rise and prospects are ROLFE WINKLER, Heard on the Street columnist for The Wall Street Journal, and NICHOLAS CARLSON, deputy editor of Business Insider, who recently published an investigative look “Inside Groupon.”
