Dreamland: David Randall on the science of sleep

Listen

Hour 1

When journalist DAVID RANDALL woke up in his hallway screaming in pain after sleepwalking into a wall, he decided it was time to get some answers to his years of troubled sleep. But what Randall found is that sleep still remains somewhat of a mystery despite the fact that we spend a third of our lives snoozing.  While many of us can’t wait to plop into bed at the end of a long and hectic day, others dread it –they may experience sleep apnea, terrifying nightmares or insomnia.  And these days, experts tell us that many of us are suffering from sleep deprivation.  Randall has written a book based on his investigation into the world of slumber, “Dreamland: Adventures in the Strange Science of Sleep.”
