Carjacking In Philadelphia

Listen

Guests: Sandra Bloom and Dorothy Johnson-Speight

The tragic death of three Philadelphia children who were killed on a North Philadelphia street corner by a carjacked SUV has reignited a conversation about relentless and senseless violence throughout the City. Two men, one of whom has 10 prior arrests, have been charged with second degree in the case. Investigators have credited tips and videos sent to the police by eye witnesses as instrumental in identifying the two men. How does a community cope and grieve in the aftermath of such a random and devastating act of violence? How can parents protect their children? And what can citizens, government officials and the police do to change the cycle of crime. Our guests are SANDRA BLOOM, board-certified psychiatrist and co-director of the Center for Non-Violence and Social Justice at Drexel University, and DOROTHY JOHNSON-SPEIGHT, founder of Mothers In Charge and EVERETT GILLISON, Deputy Mayor for Public Safety for the City of Philadelphia.
