Cabinet Confirmation Hearings

Last Thursday the Senate focused on trying to confirm national security and financial Cabinet members by President-elect Obama’s inauguration January 20th. Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, who has been nominated to be secretary of Health and Human Services, was the first to be scrutinized by the Senate. Yesterday the Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted 16-1 to recommend Senator Hillary Clinton be confirmed secretary of state. Eric Holder Jr., President Bill Clinton’s former deputy attorney general, has been nominated to the post of attorney general. Our guests JOHN NICHOLS of the Nation and JIM GERAGHTY of The National Review Online join us to share their observations on the hearings. And what President-elect Obama has ahead of him when he becomes president next week. Listen to the mp3
