Black Media in the 21st Century

What is the role of Black Media today? As the landscape of journalism is exponentially changing, and those working in the field are taking inventory of how they cover news, knowing one’s audience is vital to survival. Are we in an age where integration is the norm, or do readers and listeners also want a place to see people who look and sound like them? Sixty-six year old Ebony magazine has embraced the 21st century, redesigning the print and online versions, reviving its diminishing circulation. What are other print, radio, TV and online news sources doing to retain and attract their audiences? Our guests include SARA LOMAX-REESE, President and General Manager of WURD Radio, LLC.; IRV RANDOLPH, Managing Editor of the Philadelphia Tribune and Publisher of the South Jersey Journal; and LORI THARPS, assistant professor of journalism at Temple University.
