There are a pair of Easter Egg Hunts in Northwest Philly on Saturday

For those interested in spending the day before Easter in pursuit of painted eggs, Northwest Philadelphia has what you need.

From 10 a.m. until noon, there is an Easter Egg Hunt at Awbury Arboretum, near Haines St. and Chew Ave., where participants can enjoy games and light refreshments. It is a free event, about which information is available by calling (215) 849-2855.

Then, a two-mile hike (or drive) down Chew, Belfield and Olney avenues, there is another Easter Egg Hunt in historic museum gardens at Stenton, 4601 N. 18th St.

Participants can join the festivities at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. or 3 p.m.

Visitors will be able to fill their baskets with eggs, chocolate treats and learn about the historic use of natural dyes made from flower, vegetables and animal products while dyeing eggs.
