Years of delays, big questions surround ‘American Dream’ mall project in New Jersey

    NJ Spotlight’s John Reitmeyer joined NewsWorks Tonight for some perspective on the construction of  “American Dream,” the nation’s biggest shopping mall.

    Every day, thousands of motorists along the New Jersey turnpike pass a huge skeleton of a building.

    It looks a little like an over-sized shipping container.

    It’s supposed to become the nation’s biggest shopping mall, known as “American Dream.” But that dream to date has been more akin to a nightmare due to years of delays and big questions about its business model. A series looking at the effort through a collaboration between WNYC, NJ Spotlight, and Bloomberg Businessweek follows the story surrounding the mega mall.
