Yankee Stadium peanut supplier moves to Allentown

Yes, New York, we’ll take Cliff Lee. We’ll also have your peanuts while we’re at it.

The peanut supplier for Yankee Stadium is moving its operations to Allentown.

A.L. Bazzini Co. says it will still sell peanuts at the Yankee ballpark, despite the move from the Bronx in July. According to a New York Daily News article, Bazzini CEO Rocco Damato says the move is a tough blow for the New York brand, and because 57 people will lose their jobs.

But 30 employees are expected to get work at the larger, safer Allentown plant with the same salaries and benefits. Fifty people from the distribution, account and customer service departments will stay in the Bronx.
