Wynn backs out of Foxwoods casino

Casino mogul Steve Wynn has decided to pull out, saying Foxwoods didn’t present an opportunity that was appropriate for his company.

The Foxwoods casino project has suffered another severe blow. Casino mogul Steve Wynn has decided to pull out, saying Foxwoods didn’t present an opportunity that was appropriate for his company. Councilman Frank DiCicco represents the South Philadelphia district where the casino would be located. He says it could be time to put the deal to rest.

“For me it may not be the end,” DiCicco said. because if the gaming board were to withdraw the license and put it our for bid potentially I could wind up with another licensee either at the same location or at another location in my district and my life gets more complicated once again.”

Councilman DiCicco says if anyone could have made a go of the location, it would have been Wynn. The Foxwoods project tried to move to Center City, but state casino officials scuttled that idea.
