Wounded Pennsylvania trooper to attend Obama speech
A state trooper who was critically wounded in a 2014 ambush outside his barracks in northeastern Pennsylvania will attend President Barack Obama’s State of the Union speech.
Trooper Alex Douglass will attend Tuesday night’s speech at the U.S. Capitol as the guest of Sen. Pat Toomey. The senator, a Republican who’s seeking re-election this year, made the announcement Friday.
Shooting suspect Eric Frein led police on a 48-day manhunt following the September 2014 sniper attack that also killed another trooper, Corporal Bryon Dickson, outside the Blooming Grove state police barracks.
Frein was captured by U.S. marshals in an abandoned airplane hangar. He’s pleaded not guilty to murder and related offenses.
