Work under way to remove Garden State Parkway traffic lights

    Work is under way to remove three traffic lights on the Garden State Parkway in Cape May County.

    County engineer Dale Foster tells The Press of Atlantic City a contractor has started stripping topsoil and clearing trees.

     

    The $110 million project calls for removing the traffic lights from the toll road in Middle Township and replacing them with overpasses.

    Officials hope the project will reduce congestion along that stretch of the 172-mile highway and improve traffic safety in the area.
