Wissinoming woman mistakenly told her husband died

Dolores Cantz received a phone call in her Wissinoming home Sunday saying her husband Leonard had passed away.

But just five hours later — after calling her family, making funeral arrangements and speaking to an undertaker — she received another call saying her spouse is alive.

Leonard Cantz, 81, resides in Chapel Manor nursing home, where he receives care for Alzheimer’s. The nursing home staff realized they had notified the wrong patient’s family when a funeral director discover Cantz was still alive in his room.

The nursing home issued the following statement of apology to Action News: “We take this situation very seriously and apologize for the pain this misinformation may have caused. We have launched an investigation to determine how this occurred and to ensure it will not happen in the future.” The video below from Action News features an interview with Dolores Cantz.
