Wings of Freedom tour at New Castle Airport

The Wings of Freedom national tour lands at the New Castle Airport this week.

Monday through Wednesday visitors will be able to tour a WWII-vintage B-17 Flying Fortress, a B-24 Liberator and a P-51 Mustang.  WWII veterans can tour the aircraft at no cost.  For others, the cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children.  Flights on the B-17 and B-24 are available for $425, while flights on the P-51 fighter plane are $2,200 for a half hour.  The tours are put together by The Collings Foundation, a group which organizes “living history” events to teach Americans about the past.  The nationwide Wings of Freedom Tour is now in its 23rd year.
