Wind gusts of up to 50 mph possible for much of Pennsylvania

Officials are warning of high winds around Pennsylvania, with gusts of up to 50 mph in some areas.

The National Weather Service says a wind advisory is in effect from Monday afternoon until around midnight in a wide swath of the state, from Philadelphia up to Scranton and the Poconos and west to Altoona. Only the western-most edge of Pennsylvania is excluded.

The weather service urges people to secure patio furniture and other outdoor objects that could blow away and cause damage.

Winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected, with the strongest gusts coming in the evening hours. Power outages and downed tree limbs are possible.
