Wilmington police are looking for the person or people responsible for a shooting that left one man dead early Tuesday morning.

According to police shortly after midnight, a 21 year-old man was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso. The victim was discovered near E.7th Street thanks to a police surveillance system that tracks gunfire. At this time, police haven’t identified the victim but said he was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics and transported to the Christiana Hospital Emergency Room where he was pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, investigators are trying to figure out more about the shooting that police said doesn’t appear random. They believe the shooting was the result of “some type of altercation.”

Anyone with helpful information is urged to contact Detective Joseph Bucksner at 302-576-3629 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
