One of Wilmington newest residential properties is almost ready to be filled with tenants.

The Lofts at Clifford Brown Walk, an affordable housing development in downtown Wilmington is now accepting lease applications. The finishing touches are being done on the $19,000,000 construction project that’s slated to open in January 2016.

Developers were able to renovate the former document storage warehouse located at 1320 Clifford Brown Walk, transforming it into 80-unit Lofts. There you’ll find one and two bedroom loft apartments complete with high-end finishes such as granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and hardwood style flooring. Project leaders have also said that there are units with high ceilings, exposed brick and duct work.

“Our objective from the very beginning was to create the finest affordable housing project in the Mid-Atlantic region for the residents of Wilmington, a project that was indistinguishable from high-end, market rate apartment projects,” said Patrick Duffy of the Chatham Bay Group in Delaware.

Altogether, three companies joined forces to bring this venture to fruition.  The largest investor was Apple Inc., A California based multinational technology company.

“The people at Apple are very smart and are highly selective about which projects they do and don’t pursue – the fact they chose to invest in the Lofts at Clifford Brown Walk speaks volumes,” Duffy said.
