Wilmington police are investigating the burglary of a downtown jewelry store.

The owner of Solid Gold Jewelers, located on W. 9th Street, told police he noticed jewelry was missing from the store as he was opening for business Monday morning following the weekend winter storm.

The incident happened sometime between the evening of December 7 and the morning of the 9th.

Police said it appears the suspect entered the store from the roof and took an undisclosed amount of merchandise.
