Wilmington flags lowered for former fire chief

Wilmington flags will fly at half staff through next week to honor the city’s former Fire Chief James Ford.
Ford died Thursday after a battle with cancer.  He was a member of the fire department for 30 years, serving 24 years as a firefighter and five and a half years as chief.  After retiring in 2007, Ford became the safety and security manager for the Riverfront Development Corporation.
