Wilmington delays trash, recycling pickup due to rain

They’d never hack it as postal workers. Wilmington announced today its trash and recycling collections will be delayed this week due to weather. Rain, to be more specific.

A clause in the union’s contract says collections will be canceled if it’s raining and 45 degrees or lower at 5 a.m. on the morning of collections, as the News Journal reports. Today, it was raining and 38 degrees.

A new schedule for the week has been released:

Recycling collection for the east side of the city, originally scheduled for today, will occur Wednesday.
Recycling collection for the west side will occur Thursday,
Trash collection for the east side will occur Friday.
Trash collection for the west side will occur Saturday.
