Wildwood aims to regulate shoes, shirt, baggy shorts on boardwalk

Wildwood officials want one simple thing for their boardwalk: for you to “pull your pants up, keep your shirt on and, for safety’s sake, wear some shoes.” The Press of Atlantic City reports that these new rules are to establish a standard of decency for their public Boardwalk, as well as to increase visitors’ safety.

The new rules will require all patrons to wear appropriate footwear to minimize injury from splinters and nails, a shirt between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., and that shorts, pants, skirts, etc “shall not be worn more than 3 inches below the wearer’s waist.”

Mayor Ernie Troiano Jr. said he sees these changes as a way for Wildwood to maintain a family-friendly atmosphere and create a safer environment. There is a public hearing regarding the ordinance on June 12th at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
