WHYY hosts supercar unveiling during a.m. rush today
Commuters entering the city by way of the Ben Franklin Bridge can catch a glimpse of a new supercar that will be on display in front of WHYY in Philadelphia this morning, Monday July 16.
Members of the West Philly Hybrid X Team will be showcasing their new fuel-efficient hybrid vehicle, the EVX GT, from 7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. on Sixth Street between Arch and Race.
The EVX GT was recently entered in the Progressive Automotive X PRIZE competition by this group of award winning students and teachers from West Philadelphia High School and the Sustainability Workshop.
Simon Hauger formed the Hybrid X Team at West Philadelphia High School 13 years ago and has since helped his students win national recognition for their work building hybrid, bio-diesel and electric cars. CNN profiled the team leader late last month.
Representatives from Hybrid X Team will be on site this morning to answer questions about the team, its work, its latest project and its upcoming television spot.
The group will be featured on WHYY-TV on Tuesday, July 17, at 10 p.m., during an episode of Frontline. The spot, “Fast Times at West Philly High,” follows Hybrid X Team as it enters the Progressive Automotive X PRIZE competition.
