West Philly demonstration calls on Toomey to support Jobs Act

Pa. Sen. Pat Toomey has spoken out against President Barack Obama’s American Jobs Act, saying the plan calls for too much spending.

West Philly residents today will join a Fight for Philly demonstration to call on Toomey to support the act. Standing amid abandoned properties at 55th and Poplar, residents and unemployed workers will “use the blighted area as a backdrop for calling on Senator Toomey to support President Obama’s American Jobs Act, which independent economists say will create nearly two million jobs.”

The demonstration begins at 2 p.m. to encourage Toomey to support that plan that allots $50 million for job creation.
