West Oak Lane/Stenton water-main break repaired
Philadelphia Water Department crews have restored service to nearly 50 properties on Forrest Avenue that were left dry when a water main broke in the West Oak Lane/Stenton area early Wednesday morning.
Around 1:45 a.m., an 8-inch main broke and created a sinkhole on the sidewalk which forced the entire main to be shut down. Police and fire crews closed off the 7900 block of Forrest Ave. so repairs could be made.
Water Department spokeswoman Laura Copeland said service was restored around 1 p.m. and crews were “cleaning up mud” on Forrest Avenue about an hour later so as to minimize traffic disruption.
